goatonapole

I went to a new moon axiational alignment appointment yesterday. These sessions are only done on the new moon. She does them yesterday, today & tomorrow. This was done by Diane Young at www.circle-of-one.com . It balances the energy of the body. It felt like she was moving energy patterns flowing around me.. picking up some energy here & putting it there.. she said she drew sacred geometry over my body.

I liked especially that it was done on a new moon. This is a very special time of the month. It is a time for planting new seeds. Pay attention to whatever you are doing and thinking about and you will see these things developing and growing over the next few weeks. A few different things have been coming up for me in the last few days and I know that whether I intend it or not.. these things will be the main things growing and being worked on in my life for this month. Life is like that. So pay particular attention to what you are thinking for these few days.. cause that’s what you will be getting more of. & Thank God Mercury retrograde is finally over.. we should all be having a much more peaceful month!

Diane has a bowl of chocolate & encourages you to have some after. Chocolate is good for grounding. Chocolate is such a good thing! : ) & apple sauce

I made the most amazing and simple recipe that I just thought up yesterday. It’s my favorite version so far! Here’s the recipe:

Apple Sauce

  • 6 apples, peeled, quartered, cored
  • ½ c raisins
  • 1T lemon juice
  • 1t cinnamon

Place 3 apples & rest of ingredients in the processor and puree. Then place the remaining 3 apples in and pulse-chop to desired consistency, texture. I like the little apple chunks in it. Enjoy!

Randy just sent me this.. it’s just too bizarre not to include : ) http://goatonapole.com/Goatonapole is a metareligion–an intellectual and spiritual practice whose aim is to better understand thought systems–based on an image of a goat standing on a pole. The basic assumption underlying the practice of Goatonapole is that in the relative positions of the Goat and the Pole lies all meaning. In the Goat and the Pole we Goatonapolists see the universe, ourselves, and all things. In short, Goatonapole is the enterprise of talking about the Goat and the Pole and contemplating their relative positions.

juice recipe, Believe in magic!

I am listing the ingredients in a juice that this girl who I spoke to yesterday always orders for breakfast when she’s in LA. She is a stunt person and lives there half of the year. This looks really interesting and I want to experiment with it tomorrow.

Its mainly a strawberry base, but also has blueberries, beets, carrots, lemon rind, garlic, ginger & E3Live. What a combo!

My mom sent me this from the daily guru newsletter (http://www.thedailyguru.com/) from Nov 16:

Believe in magic!

“… for magic to happen in your life, you must believe in magic.” — Grandmother, quoted by Lynn Andrews

“Most of the time, we fall in love but can’t remain there. The world then calls the state we were in a delusion or infatuation … But we merely lacked, or someone else lacked, the emotional skills to hold on to the magic when the morning came. … In truth, we can go to the moon and retain its magic for a lifetime.” — Marianne Williamson

“We think, sometimes, there’s not a dragon left. Not one brave knight, not a single princess gliding through secret forests … What a pleasure to be wrong. Princesses, knights, enchantments and dragons, mystery and adventure … not only are they here-and-now, they’re all that ever lived on earth! Masters of reality still meet us in dreams to tell us that we’ve never lost the shield we need against dragons, that blue-fire voltage arcs through us now to change our world as we wish. Intuition whispers true: We’re not dust, we’re magic!” — Richard Bach

Rainy day – the inexhaustible richness of everyday life

‘In the words of R. H. Blyth, the great English champion of Haiku: “We return to the friends of our childhood, the rain on the window-pane; the long silent roads of night; the waves of the shore that never cease to fall; the moon, so near and yet so far; all the sensations of texture, timbre, weight and shape, those precious treasures and inexhaustible riches of every-day life.”

How do we find simplicity and direct purpose in the midst of chaotic communication? How, on our necessary islands of ego do we find challenging and yet comforting companionship? In the companionship of art we are all of a time. Early or late we are to be shared. In a way we all have the same job. We are trying to evoke and reinforce meanings from the spaces we cover and the times we’re given. Short or long this becomes our purpose. What we artists do is important stuff.’ ~R. Genn

It’s a rainy day. Dress warm. Enjoy. : )

China lanterns, new #, icing, birthday thoughts and transforming relationships from The Secret

It’s my birthday. I am 43 years old now. ..but I am feeling like such a little kid. Check out the time. It’s 4am & here I am awake. This happens to me at Christmas all the time.. I wake up in the middle of the night & can’t get back to sleep (too excited) .. but not usually on my birthday.

& I even know what I am getting, a blackberry. I was told last night because I had to decide if I wanted to stay with Bell or switch ..whch I did. To Telus.. way better plan. I have a new phone # though.. but that’s ok.. things change.. I’m going with the change and flowing.. and I like the new number.
‘When our attitude is open, we can have fun with what the world presents’ ~Sakyong Mipham
I have a friend who is an older man and I love it when it’s his birthday because everytime you say Happy Birthday to him, he says Happy Birthday back to you. : ) ..this always makes me smile.
I remember Judith talking to me about how she celebrated her birthday.. how different it was from the way most of us do. She thought of it more of an internal thing.. a day to spend time with and get to know and celebrate who we are. She thought most of us have external expectations, yk cake, presents etc.. but to her it was more important to spent time reflecting and being with herself. I love you Judith. Sometimes I give spirit hugs. That being said, ( internal joke that only I will get.. and maybe Judith), cake is important too! ..and candles and wishes and traditions. I think I will make up some icing this morning before work and leave it here for the kids to ice my cake, which is in the fridge waiting. I am thinking Raw chocolate powder, honey, some almond butter and vanilla.
The rest of the posting is from the Secret website: http://www.thesecret.tv/home.html

I finally ordered the movie a week or so ago. It’s so good.
‘You can completely transform any relationship, no matter what it’s like right now.

Every single relationship you have is a reflection of how you feel inside about you. You are a magnet attracting to you all things, via the signal you are emitting through your thoughts and feelings. Every relationship you have and every interaction with every person, is a reflection of your own thoughts and feelings in that very moment.

‘ To transform every single relationship you have in your life:

· Fall in love with YOU! (you must love yourself deeply).
· Make lists of hundreds and hundreds of wonderful things about you. Keep adding to it every day.
· Know that you are perfect.(do not think any negative thoughts about you).
· Know that you are worthy and deserving of anything and everything you could possibly want in your life.
· Focus on the wonderful things in every person. Look for only those things.
· Do not blame or criticize anybody, ever.
· Set an intention that you are going to see the best in everything and everyone.
· Make your happiness the number one thing in your life. (Happiness is an inside job.)
· Free yourself of the responsibility of trying to make other people happy (respect and love them enough to allow them to take care of their own happiness).
· Get your attention off those things in others that don’t make you feel good.
· Appreciate and love yourself in every moment you can.
· Do not expect others to behave in a way you want, so you will be happy. Release yourself forevermore and know that you alone control your happiness and it is a choice, no matter what anyone else is doing.
· Love and respect yourself completely. Know that you are PERFECT right now. ‘

pics are from a Russian website that my friend Paul sent to me.. he’s been sending me some really cool images from there, he says he has no idea where they are from, in cyrillic text. Of course I will post the best ones here.. except for one, which is really not appropriate.. but totally worthy of wonderment if I have you wondering. not to mention that its deleted. lol hey, its 4 am, 4:30 now, & I’m getting tired (melatonin kicking in) I just wanted to especially thank you for the pics & being a great friend. .. I am going back to bed for an hour or two. Sweet dreams! ..& Happy Birthday! : )

Raw sensitivity and Butterscotch Balls

Raw foods make us more sensitive, which is good.. and yet hard.
They make us more sensitive physically, emotionally and spiritually. More sensitive to the pain of our planet. more in tune. More depth of feeling ..more love, more joy, more sadness. This also makes us more conscientious, more aware and therefore more concerned about making a difference. Awareness is the greatest agent for change.

Most people don’t think about what they eat. They block it out. It’s like a catch 22. Conventional – modern – processed, foods make you feel dull, drained, lethargic. Your body goes onto automatic pilot and you don’t really think about what you are eating, making unconscious decisions usually led by conventional SAD (standard American Diet) addictions which again leave you dull, unconscious and unconscientious.

I went to Erika Wolff’s Holiday Raw workshop last night. My favorite recipe was the dessert, of course. ; )
It’s from Frederic Patenaude’s Sunfood Cuisine

Stellar Hemp Butterscotch Balls

20 honey dates, pitted
1c powdered cashews
2-3T vanilla
3T coconut butter
½ c hemp seeds
pinch Celtic salt

Place dates, vanilla and salt in processor and mix thoroughly to a paste. Blend int he cashew powder and the coconut butter (liquid). Roll into small, 1” round balls and cover with hemp seeds. Place in the freezer until ready to serve. Absolutely decadent.

I was up so early, drove Kaiya & her freind to volleyball tryouts.. now home with lots of time for sungazing.. but no sun! It has been hiding for almost a week now.. I think it’s due to make a reappearance soon.
I miss you, sun!

& Milosh & Johnny are off at 7:05 this am.. something about the planets being perfectly aligned at that time. Off to Nelson, BC. Wishing you a wonderful trip. Enjoy the sandwiches! : ) Good energy!

Raw sweeteners and my birthday cake

I am going through a bit of an internal struggle these days regarding raw sweeteners.

I like the idea of being vegan.. but vegans don’t eat honey. & I like honey.

I haven’t been convinced yet that eating honey is harming the bees.. in fact I was listening to someone recently talking about the beekeeper at the market, and about how much he loves the bees.

But I know some people are really against it. I remember hearing one girl at the veggie food fair saying that she has gotten so sensitive that she can’t bring herself to eat it anymore, it makes her too sad.

I just read a response to a post on the rawfoodtoronto yahoo e-group: ‘The bees worked hard all along and have harvested the nectar and it is time for us to steal their food!” & also ‘not to mention the fact that it’s regurgitated bee spit’.

So, the honey dilemma is on.

& then I read this article on agave:

The Big Debate: Is Raw Agave Syrup Really Raw?
http://rawfoodsnewsmagazine.com/modules.php?op=modload&name=News&file=article&sid=187&mode=thread&order=0&thold=0

Maple syrup is amazing but it definitely is not raw.

Thank God for dates!

My Birthday cake!

2c of almond paste-butter I had this in a bottle in my fridge. I made it last week when I was experimenting with cookies. I had soaked and then processed the almonds through my juicer with the blank screen and then blended them in the K-tec with enough water to get it blending, trying to get a smooth, creamy texture like the bottled almond butter. It still just wasn’t the same. The bottled stuff is amazing. ..but now another dilemma because I have heard that even though it says raw, it’s not really. ??? For future recipes I would try just homogenizing the almonds through the juicer (blank screen) and using that. Way too much work processing in the K-tec!
Meat from 2 mature coconuts, homogenized through juicer with blank screen
2c dates
1c cacao
– raw, ground (ChocoSol’s!)
½ c honey
½ c almond butter
1t vanilla

Dash cinnamon and salt

Blend all these ingredients together in a food processor. I had to do it in 2 batches. I have a medium sized processor, which is the most common household size. Now there is probably a better way to do this.. oiling the parchment paper might be a good idea to try but I lined a round pan with parchment paper. Spread ½ the cake batter in and then flipped it over onto a teflex sheet on a dehydrator screen. Peel away the parchment paper, smooth out with knife and then put parchment paper into pan again and make a 2nd layer with the rest of the batter on another screen. Dehydrate overnight.Icing will be easy.. have you ever mixed raw chocolate powder and honey? It is the most amazing icing. I might mix it with some almond butter and vanilla.
..and if I am off honey by then.. I’ll find an alternative.

Have a lushiously sweet and tantalizingly decadent day!

Mercury, games, raw gourmet and 2 salads

I made 2 salads last night that I want to post. They were both really good & easy.

1st – Asian Radish Appetizer Salad.. named this cause the lady at the asian market told me that in Korea they use these types of radishes (long 7-8” and 1 ½ “ in diameter, white) as an appetizer. They grate them and add sugar and vinegar.. so that’s pretty much what this is:
! asian radish, grated
3T apple cider vinegar
2T honey
Salt and cayenne to taste
All mixed together in a bowl.

2nd – Apple Pecan Salad
1 bunch spinach, chopped up
1 c sunflower sprouts
¾ c pecans, soaked
½ c pumpkin seeds, soaked
1 gr onion, chopped
½ c raisins
1 apple, peeled and chopped

Dressing:
2T almond butter
½ lemon juiced
2T maple syrup
Salt & cayenne

And now I am off to make more sweet stuff. My own birthday cake – which is not until Wed. but I will refrigerate or freeze it or something. Jim just came in with 5 coconuts for me to experiment with.. that’s my cue. I have tons of cacao and dates and almonds and honey.. and good music. ..this is going to be fun. : )

Remember Peace, smile, buckwheaties and nut and seed cereals and brazil milk

On this remembrance day I would like to suggest that we remember peace and hold it in our hearts today.

Contemplate peace.. being peace, living a peaceful lifestyle.
When we hold peace in our hearts, then we can be productive in creating peace in the world.

Contemplate the wonders of the world. Life is filled with suffering ..but also of wonders. Even if you are dealing with sorrow and suffering pay attention to – appreciate and enjoy – the many wonders – the beauty, happiness and peace that surround us continually.

Smile. That is a gift to the world. When someone smiles it makes us feel better.. it makes life more beautiful. Smiling is the most basic kind of peace work.

Breathing in, I calm my body.
Breathing out, I smile.
Dwelling in the present moment
I know this is a wonderful moment
~Thich Nhat Hanh

I just had a most delicious bowl of cereal as I wrote that. Someone at work gave me a bag of sprouted organic buckwheat granola.
Ingredients: sprouted buckwheat, coconut, apple, sunflower oil, maple syrup, cinnamon and cardamom.
It was made by New Life Foods from the New Life Retreat in Lanark, Ont.
http://www.newliferetreat.com/ri_livingfoods.html

I made the milk by blending 15 brazil nuts, 7 dates and 2 c water in my K-tec. & then topped it with a bit of maple syrup. (I know, I know, I like it sweet!) Thank you Gwen! : )

My mom makes buckwheaties and I have a recipe here.. but I am googling it because I have to leave in a few minutes..

Good link- this is such a good place for me to store things to get back to: http://www.purerawcafe.com/shop.htm

Freedoms Raw recipes blog: http://freedomsrawrecipes.blogspot.com/

Ok, no recipe for buckwheaties.. but I think its easy. basically you sprout buckwheat (5 or 6 cups) and then you can add some other ingredients to it like a cup or 2 of coconut and maybe some cinnamon, apple -chopped up and whatever else you feel like. Then dry it in the dehydrator. I haven’t done it but my mom has. ; )

The cereal she is making now is made up of soaked nuts and seeds.
2 c almonds
2c seeds – pumpkin & sunflower
Apples
, cinnamon and salt.. I think that’s it, not sure if she puts any maple syrup or sweetener in or not.
Chop up all ingredients in processor until chunky and dehydrate. Spread on teflex and dry 12-24 hours (I’m guessing.. but see how easy raw is!) until dry enough to flip onto mesh & then continue to dry ..until dry. ; )

k. really have to run, was wonderful.. see you tomorrow.. remember peace ..and love ..and fun.
*smile*

Thai wrap, The Real News, fasting one day a week, birthday calculator

I had the most delicious lunch yesterday. I made an adaptation of the Tangy Thai Carrot Salad from the travelling raw blog posted a few days ago.

I would love to say I used a mortar and pestle but I used a Magic Bullet mini blender.. I was rushing again.

I put in it 1/3 c cashews, 1 tomato, 1 clove garlic, 1”ginger, 1T nama shoyu, 1 T agave, juice of ½ a lime and a chili and blended. This is the dressing, it was hot but amazingly good. Pour this over a mixture of:
1 carrot, grated
Meat of 1 coconut, chopped – I used a young green Costa Rican coconut with soft meat, grate the meat if you use the harder meat of a brown coconut.
1 handful (1/2c) bean sprouts
1 bunch cilantro, chopped

I used this mixture and wrapped it up in nori sheets with sunflower sprouts and it was amazing!

Food tastes better when it is shared.
: ) My Mom always wanted to eat with someone, wasn’t big on eating alone. I think this may be part of the reason. There is just something special about eating with others.

Independent World Television is located in the same building as us and is moving from the 3rd floor ro the 2nd.. right over us. Someone came down to introduce themselves and more or less tell us that they will be filming sometimes.. umm.. we play the music pretty loud sometimes. & Hey, we are an event space.. and sometimes our events are loud also.. so we’ll get it all worked out. But check out their site. I think she came more to give me their website than anything..check it out:

interesting bit on fasting one day a week from a post by mark Jackson on the becomingyounger yahoo e-group:

“I fast on a Wednesday because that is the day on which I was born, and for me it is of special significance. My own personal belief has to do with our day of birth being your sabbath. Your day to rest your temple body from the duties it has to perform. I have many ancient writings to back this up.Many religions have rules and laws about fasting, the Mormons fast once a month, although they do not drink any liquids during the fast, which is not healthy. Catholics for many years were not to eat meat on fridays, a sort of fast. Jews had special rules and special occasions to fast. THe Hindu religion also has purification rites and fasting rituals. Many peoples believe that some sort of fasting is important for either a physical of spiritual reason. When you fast it is imperative that you drink plenty of water. I drink a minimum of a gallon of water a day when I fast. The body needs fluids to flush out the cells and eliminate poisons and toxins.

Even the person with the healthiest and cleanest diet on the planet has need to fast and give his/her temple a rest from performing its functions. I suggest that it becomes easier if you pick a certain day of the week in which to fast, then you get into a routine, and there is not question but that is the day you are going to fast. Those who do strenuous physical labor might want to pick a day in which they are not working, but I have done much strenuous labor during a fast with no problems. As you fast more often it becomes easier and easier, now I do not even think twice about fasting. I do not crave food, and I feel wonderful all day.If you adopt a fasting regimine it will greatly extend your life, and improve your outlook on life as well. I wish you love and peace this day and always, and please create for yourself a beautiful day!!
